Chris Porter – Senior Minister

Chris PorterChris Porter became our Senior Minister in July 2016 having previously been Senior Minister at Easthampstead Baptist Church in Bracknell. Chris has responsibility for overseeing the vision and strategy for the church as well as leading the staff team. Before becoming a full time church leader, Chris was a Management Consultant and travelled all over the world. He is passionate about seeing ABC become a church that people who wouldn’t normally go to church love to attend and to see ABC engaging with the local community. He is married to Ruth who works in Andover as a nurse and has two teenage daughters. He loves rugby and cricket and over the last 3 years has been learning to ski (with mixed results!).

Robert Hadfield – Associate Minister

Rob HadfieldRob became our Associate Minister in Sept 2012. He is married to Tracey who serves God as an accountant. They are originally from Zimbabwe where he studied Theology and Biblical Studies at the Theological College of Zimbabwe and served as an Associate Minister in a large city church in Bulawayo. They moved to Ireland in 2007 and ministered in Limerick City before moving to the UK and to Andover Baptist Church in 2012. Besides being our Pastor, Rob has oversight of our small groups, our discipleship, our pastoral care and the welcome and integration of newcomers into church life here at ABC. He enjoys playing football with the lads, whether on the pitch or on the console!

Marie Wilds – Church Life Director

Marie WildsMarie started as our Church Life Director in September 2015. Mother of two kids and wife to Dave, Marie is a warm, welcoming and joyful soul who loves buttercream and producing policies (yes, you heard that correctly!). Marie has a real passion for analysing data, producing project plans and creating systems and processes, which is a huge blessing to the whole staff team! She heads up our Guest Services teams and her desire is that everyone who walks through the doors of the church feels like they are truly welcome.

Ivan Strydom – Director of Children & Youth

Ivan StrydomIvan served as Interim Director of Children & Youth from February 2013 until his official appointment recieving a landslide vote by the church members on January 28th 2014. Originally from Zimbabwe, Ivan served his home church as a volunteer youth leader for several years taking large groups of youngsters on camping trips "into the bush". He also worked as a Regional Director for 'Youth for Christ' Zimbabwe. Ivan is married to the lovely Christie and father to their daughter Faith. He is a keen sportsman and enjoys being outdoors and sharing a good joke.

Chris Choules – Communications Director

Chris ChoulesChris was appointed as our Director of Communications in September 2012, and started mid-november. He has grown up in Andover Baptist Church since he was 11. Chris’s part-time role involves overseeing our online presence including our website & social media activity, all printed publications such as leaflets, posters & flyers and other varied area’s of church communication. Chris works as a web designer for a local marketing agency as his other part time job. He is married to Kristina who is a community worker and they have a excitable litte toddler and another baby on the way.

Alex Pugh – Church Administrator

Alex PughAlex joined as our Church Administrator in November 2018 having left the Army earlier on in the year. She is married to Jon who is a carpenter and also a drummer, and together they serve in one of the worship bands at the church. Alex also heads up our monthly IGNITE evening event. She is known for her ability to talk and is enthusiastic about most things she does! In her free time she loves getting out for a run or a walk in the countryside.

Nina Whitby – Children's Worker

Nina WhitbyNina became our Children's Worker in November 2014, joining Ivan to help lead our vibrant and thriving Children's & Youth department. A mother to 3 wonderful kids, she has oodles of experience and vision to help co-ordinate the children's work with our faithful volunteers. Her main focus is working with the under 11s (although she does have a soft spot for the tiny babies!) she has a passion to share God's love with children and longs to see them come to a faith of their own. Nina's husband Martin is an Elder at ABC and works in the I.T. industry.
