About ABC

Welcome to ABC! We are a vibrant church found in the middle of Hampshire with a mission to see people transformed by God throughout Andover and the world.

ABC is an established evangelical church in Andover, Hampshire, UK originally planted from Whitchurch Baptist Church in 1824. We have a membership of just over 300 people, and we reach out to around 450-500 people through our Sunday services, small groups and associated activities.

We have two Ministers here at ABC, Senior Minister Chris Porter and Associate Minister Robert Hadfield. If you want to find out more about our staff team, then click here.

Andover was for many years a small market town, but it has grown substantially through London ‘overspill’ in the 1960s and 1970s, bringing the current population including surrounding villages to around 50,000. There are ambitious plans to further extend the town with several major housing developments being proposed, and it is expected that the town population will increase to around 80,000 over the next 20 years.

Our church building is used seven days a week, with local organisations using it alongside our regular church activities.

Our challenge is that approximately 95% of the population of Andover and the surrounding villages do not know Jesus as their Saviour and they do not follow Him. Many households still experience relationship breakdown. Many pockets of the town endure social injustice and deprivation. There are many workplaces where people are not valued, encouraged and motivated. Many people are still bound by drug, alcohol and gambling addictions. Many live in loneliness and fear. This is the challenge God has placed before us as His body in Andover. We know that the answer to this challenge is Jesus and His Kingdom coming. We want to see where God is at work and partner with Him in this, His mission.
