What is the internship?
For several months, we have been blessed with young adults becoming Christians and attending ABC, and seeing our own young people growing into mature followers of Christ.
We therefore wanted to provide them (and others who may be interested) with an opportunity to grow as disciples and hone their God-given leadership skills. The internship program has been put together with the aim of providing 3 strands of equipping and training:
Personal & Spiritual Growth
Biblical, Theological and Doctrinal learning
Learning through experience,training and leading
How will it work? The internship will function at 3 different levels:
1. A primary weekly session, with teaching input (2 afternoon seminars and an evening workshop). This will take place on a Tuesday.
2. Mentoring sessions and tutor groups (take place on an evening, probably Thursday)
3. Practical opportunities for service and mission
Content The course will contain input from various experienced and qualified leaders with a range of topics and formats. A core part of the internship will centre around the CPAS ‘Growing Leaders’ Course, (a resource that is proven to help grow leaders not just in a church context, but developing leadership in all spheres of life); and the Southern Counties Baptist Association ‘Footsteps’ course (10 sessions, one Saturday a month).
Alongside this, there will be:
2 foundational sessions (on the natureof the Kingdom, godly leadership)
Doctrinal and theological input covering a whole range of topics (Theology of mission, CreationCare, theology of work, Spiritual warfare, etc…)
Overviews of key Bible components(Old Testament, New Testament, studies of individual books)
Spiritual disciplines workshop (Prayer, Fasting, Bible Study & Meditation, etc…)
The interns would meet on an evening for mentoring/tutoring, feedback and sharing, on an afternoon for a session (broken into seminars), and practical workshops in the evening. On top of that, we would expect the interns to complete various projects during the year.
