 | | God is all about beauty. At times, our worship of God can appear to be one-dimensional. However, God has gifted many people with some incredible artistic talents. We are thrilled that within ABC, these gifts are starting to be expressed and thereby enrich our worship of God and bring Him much glory. Below, you will find a sample of Lynne Pugh 's pictures with a few thoughts. Our prayer is that they may inspire you to worship God, that He would speak to you through them, and that through her art, you may discover more of the love of God for you and His purposes for your lives. First I saw a really bright shining light, and gradually behind it, I realized there was the world. It was in darkness. The cross is superimposed on the light: Christ came while we were still sinners, not once we were ‘sorted’. He loved us despite our filth. This is a real vision of hope. | | | | Whole-Life Worship | | | This was a large picture painted during the worship time on the 18th May (See sermon downloads for related sermon!). The whole focus of the service was ‘God-Honouring Worship’ and this picture is a representation of a living sacrifice, offering every part of our lives to God. During the service, people were encouraged to express their worship in many different creative ways. While I was painting this, several children and other people came and drew what was important to them (you can see faint outlines of guitars, Xboxes, family etc,…). | | | | The Key | | | This was painted during an evening service. It's a reminder that we are called to go into God’s presence. We have the key on our side! And the key- hole is cross-shaped. We just need to go ahead and open the door. | | | | | Grace and Love | | | This picture was birthed on Sunday morning (15th June - see sermon downloads), as we were singing ‘Grace & Love like mighty rivers poured incessant from above’. During the service, there was an incredible sense of God's love pouring out over many people. In the picture, there are many waiting on the banks, nervous about jumping in. Others were just wading in and immersing themselves. We have the choice. | | | | Truth and Light | | | Truth and light will shine out in the things we say and do and radiate to others around us. This is also a picture of worship: a unique communication with God. | | | | | Hands over fire and deep water | | | This picture was painted in its original format during a Spring Harvest celebration. Although this wasn't the original intention, it is a clear illustration of Isaiah 43:2. | | | | | Redeemed | | | This came from the song ‘in royal robes, I don’t deserve’. As we were singing, I pictured myself in God’s presence in a large gathering. I felt like the first figure in rags and hoping that He wouldn’t look my way. I had the sensation that He was drawing close, and I felt ashamed and unworthy to be there. As I began to raise my eyes to Him, it was as though I was being lifted up to a standing position and I stepped forward into the light that was His presence. I was amazed to find that I was wearing a beautiful dress, that I was clean and presented as His daughter. He made me, so I was His, but He also bought me with a high price – I have been redeemed. | | | | | Refiner's Fire | | | Painted during a Yarden concert – the Refiner’s fire… | | | | The Roots | | | This was painted during a Sunday evening service, "Going Deeper – Battle for the mind" (15th June 2008). We deal with the ugly thistles of our lives, but if the root is not removed, it will continue to spread and throw up new shoots. | | | | | | ... to be continued ... | |
